Oman records a 15.5% surge in petroleum product output in 2024
According to preliminary statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the production of petroleum products by refineries and oil industries in Oman increased by 15.5% by the end of February 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
A summary of the production changes for each petroleum product is as follows:
- Super Petrol (M-95): Production up by 25%
- Regular Petrol (M-91): Production down by 16%
- Diesel: Production down by 17%
- Jet Fuel: Production up by 36%
- Exports of M-91 Petrol: Down by 13%
- Exports of M-95 Petrol: Up by 691%
The data shows that the production of Regular Petrol (M-91) by Omani refineries decreased by 16% by the end of February 2024, while the production of Super Petrol (M-95) increased by 25%.
Total production of M-91 reached about 2.38 million barrels, with sales amounting to 2.23 million barrels.
M-95 production recorded 2.21 million barrels, while sales reached 2.47 million barrels.
Diesel production decreased by 17% to 4.58 million barrels, while sales reached 2.25 million barrels.
Jet fuel production increased by 36% to 2.10 million barrels, with sales reaching 742,900 barrels.
Production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) reached 1.41 million barrels, and sales amounted to 1.63 million barrels.
In the petrochemical sector, the data indicates that gasoline production increased by 22% to 28,400 tons, and paraxylene production increased by 31% to 100,100 tons.
Polypropylene production decreased by 6% to 38,300 tons, but its sales increased by 77% to 6,000 tons.
Oman’s exports of M-91 petrol fell by 13% to 505,800 barrels, while exports of M-95 petrol surged by 691% to 276,900 barrels by the end of February 2024.
Diesel exports reached 2.12 million barrels, jet fuel exports reached 1.33 million barrels, and LPG exports reached 147,000 tons.
Exports of paraxylene amounted to 102,400 tons, gasoline exports reached 25,200 tons, and polypropylene exports reached 25,200 tons.
